Superintendent's Update - August 2017

The start of a new academic year is one of my favorite times to visit our schools and talk with our students, families, teachers and staff. Our hallways are filled with a palpable optimism and drive to continue our momentum toward the highest levels of academic growth and success.

Are You at Risk for Diabetes? Help is Available!

Diabetes is a condition in which your body does not properly process food, causing blood glucose (sugar) levels to rise higher than normal.

Sunrise Stampede 10K / 2Mi

Want to have some fun? Join us at the Sunrise Stampede 10k and 2 mile race. The Sunrise Stampede is a local running event that has raised over $225,000 for St. Vrain Valley School District for funding classroom grants for students with special needs. Come show your support for the community and SVVSD by participating in this race.

Got Questions? PERA Will be Onsite This Summer

Representatives from the Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA) will be onsite this summer to answer your questions relating to PERA contributions, retirement, distributions, etc.

CNIC Health Plan Changes

As previously announced, CNIC Health Solutions (the district’s Third Party Administrator) was recently acquired by United Healthcare.  We have a few updates for those of you who are insured on the district’s self-funded CNIC health plan:

Leave Black Out

As we transition from the 2016-2017 school year into 2017-2018, your leave balances will be unavailable for viewing in Infinite Visions. The anticipated time period of this black out will be 6/30/17 – 7/14/17.

ComPsych Employee Assistance Program (EAP): There When You Need It

Personal issues and the stress of everyday life can affect your work, your health and your family relationships. Get the help you need without breaking the bank. The ComPsych EAP program is a free, confidential service available to all district employees that provides support, resources and information to help you and your family deal with a variety of personal and work-life issues. Confidential Counseling

Benefits Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment (OE) starts Monday, 11/7 and ends Friday, 11/18.  (No late enrollments will be allowed.) OE is the one time each year when employees can enroll, drop or make coverage changes without a qualifying life event.  Enrollment changes made during OE will be effective 01/01/17.  The Benefits department is hosting informational meetings to answer questions and highlight benefit changes which may impact you and your family.

 Classified Meet & Confer Committee Positions Available

We are in need of an alternate Classified Meet & Confer representative for Media Clerks/Techs, Technology, Operations & Maintenance, Campus Supervisors & Student Services.   Classified Meet & Confer meets once a month on Monday from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. 


Classified Meet & Confer is a committee which reviews any handbook policies, evaluations, pay, and discusses district concerns, for example, health insurance and professional development. 

An Update from Risk Management

When employees are injured at work while doing their job, an Employee Injury Report should be completed, even if the employee does not plan to seek medical attention for his or her injuries.
